Buying Guide & FAQs

What is a heat transfer label and how it works?

A heat transfer label is a design printed onto a transfer film, the material including silicone, TPU, DTF, PU, PVC, flock, ink, it delivers a 3D effect and attractive texture. It can be applied to fabric using a heat press or an iron.

It can be widely applied to cotton, linen, polyester, nylon, polyamide, stretch fabrics, and more. However, waterproof, rough, perforated, and long-pile fabrics should be tested before use.

If the logo consists of thick lines or solid areas of color, the thickness can be made in 1mm – 3 mm. However, if the design has very fine lines or small details, we recommend keeping the thickness below 0.5 mm.

The biggest difference is the production process. Heat transfer labels offer a much wider range of materials, techniques, and styles, while iron-on labels are mainly made from woven, printed, and embroidered patches.

Different materials, thicknesses, and fabrics require different application methods. As a general guide: 130–150°C, 3–5 kg pressure, and 7–15 seconds. Testing is recommended before production.

For TPU labels, apply from the back of the fabric rather than directly on the label.

Our heat transfer labels have great durability and strength, they are suitable for both hand washing and machine washing and are resistant to cracking, lifting, bubbling, and peeling. Durability depends on factors such as label quality, application process, washing method, drying temperature, and usage environment.

Standard processes can generally withstand 10–30+ household washes, while premium processes can withstand 50+ washes. We can also produce the labels based on your requirements.

We recommend ordering 500 pieces or more. Smaller quantities are also possible, but the unit cost will be higher.

Custom heat transfer labels cost around $0.05 and $2.00 per label. The price depending on the material, size, thickness, colors, production process, and quantity. We will provide a competitive quotation within one working day based on your requirements.

Of course. We can send you existing stock samples for testing, or customize sample based on your own design.

Depending on the production process and quantity, the production time is around 7–15 days.

Different materials offer different feels, looks, durability, and costs. When choosing a heat transfer label, consider:

Fabric: Choose a material suitable for your garment fabric, especially for stretchy, waterproof, or textured fabrics.

Feel & look: Silicone and TPU offer a smooth, raised look, while PU and flock provide different textures.

Design: Simple logos, fine details, and large solid areas may require different materials or processes.

Budget & use: Consider your budget, washing requirements, and intended use.

Simply share your garment fabric and logo with us, and we’ll recommend the most suitable option.
